RUSSIAN locomotive maker Sinara Transport Machines (STM) has agreed to provide Russian Railways 2TE5A mainline freight two-sectioned diesels with asynchronous traction maintenance services for their life cycle.
The deal involves supplying 200 2TE35A diesel locomotives by 2031 as well as construction of servicing infrastructure in the territory of locomotives operation which is the Far East and East Siberian Railways.
"The procurement by the Russian Railways of unique Russian 2TE35A diesel locomotives is an important step in the development of domestic railway engineering," said top STM sales executive Anton Zubikhin.
It is planned that the first two 2TE35A locomotives will enter the Russian Railways network for trial operation in 2022. The serial production of 2TE35A will be carried out at the Ural Locomotives plant at Verkhnyaya Pyshma, in the Sverdlovsk Region.
