Meat and milk powder leads Finland's 2020 China food exports

FINNISH exports in the food and beverage sector increased seven per cent year on year in 2020, with a 78 per cent increase in the Chinese market, reports Xinhua.

Total export value of the sector was US$2.11 billion, with China making up around eight per cent, second only to Sweden.

The growth was virtually driven by significantly increased exports of milk powder and pork from Finland.

Head of the Food Programme at Business Finland, Esa Wrang, declared there were fears in the industry that the Covid crisis could impede food and drink exports, but no decisive decline had been seen in any markets.

Finland aims at doubling the value of food exports to $3 billion by 2025. The food industry is the fourth-largest industrial sector in Finland.
