MASKargo adds dolly tracking technology

MASKARGO, the Malaysian airline, has initiated the tracking of dollies at its Kuala Lumpur hub as part of its ongoing efforts to streamline operational processes, reports London's Air Cargo News.

To achieve this, the airline has introduced a digital tracking system onto its 20ft dollies stationed at the airport. This system is equipped with a geofencing alarm feature that covers an area of 1.5 km.

The incorporation of this tracking system results in improved dolly utilization by automatically assigning dollies within the airport premises, especially in preparation for peak operational periods.

"There are only 16 units of the 20ft [dollies] in our fleet, and these are constantly in great demand due to their ability to take on more weight per trip," said MASkargo ramp handling manager Abu Bakar Kassim.

"With a tracker on each dolly, we now have complete visibility of the dollies across the airport grounds."

Mr Kassim further noted that these trackers enable the ground handling division to eliminate the need for manual searches, as real-time monitoring ensures swift retrieval.

Over the past few years, the airline has been actively investing in enhancing its digital capabilities. It has joined prominent online booking platforms such as CargoAi and cargo.one.

Moreover, MASKargo has adopted the International Air Transport Association (IATA)'s Dangerous Goods AutoCheck (DG AutoCheck) platform for the efficient acceptance of dangerous goods shipments.
