DHL eCommerce relocates to a new, larger facility in Missouri

DHL eCommerce Solutions, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, the leading logistics company in the world, has announced its relocation to a wholly-owned distribution centre in Kansas City, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

This move comes as a response to the increasing demand in the region.

With an investment of US$18 million, DHL eCommerce Solutions aims to enhance its domestic volume processing and expand its shipping operations throughout the US Midwest region.

The new facility, occupying 124,700 square feet, is equipped with temperature control and consists of warehouse, conference, training and office spaces.

Strategically located near the Kansas City International Airport and major freeways. It has been built with environmentally friendly features, including EV charging stations, LED lighting, energy-efficient HVAC systems, roller shade windows, and clerestory windows with glazing.

Compared to its previous location in St Louis, the new facility in Kansas City is twice the size, enabling it to process more than double the number of parcels and packages.

The distribution centre boasts two NPI Gen3 Xstream Dual Lane Sliding Shoe Sorters, capable of processing 28,000 parcels per hour and directing them to various bin destinations such as tubs, carts, and gaylords.

"The Kansas City metropolitan area is rapidly expanding, and it's the perfect location for DHL eCommerce Solutions to have a larger, fully customised facility that will assist us in growing our footprint in the Midwest," said DHL eCommerce Solutions chief Lee Spratt.
